Low Maintenance Pondless Waterfalls & Bubbling Boulder Fountains:
Are you looking for a water feature, but think a pond is too much maintenance, or a pond won’t fit in your yard, or you're concerned about children around a pond? A pondless waterfall or bubbling boulder fountain may be the right water feature for you.
These features provide the sound of moving water, rocks, aggregate, and aquatic plants, without the pond. The stream water simply disappears over a waterfall into an underground reservoir that is hidden below decorative aggregate, eliminating a depth of pooling water greater than 1-2 inches, hence the name pondless waterfall. Essentially you have all the benefits of an ecosystem pond, without the fish, maintenance, or safety concerns. Pondless waterfalls and bubbling boulder fountains are easily customized to small spaces, making them perfect for front yards, front entries to businesses, or that small area in your backyard that needs to be brought to life.
These water features are also easily customized to create a rainwater harvesting system. This is done by pre-filtering the water flowing from the roof of your house and collecting it in the underground reservoir. The reservoir size is based on the volume of rainwater available, the volume of water required for the use, and the evaporation rates of the stream or fountain that utilize the reservoir. We call this a Rain Xchange system and it can be used to water your landscape, wash your car or driveway, top up the water in other water features such as a pond, minimize the frequency of replacing evaporated water in your pondless waterfall, or fountain, and many more uses. The underground reservoir can be capped with a decorative aggregate, a flagstone permeable patio, or a permeable paving stone patio. This can allow for creative designs that bring your water feature close to your house, being utilized for dual purposes while enhancing your outdoor entertaining area.

Pondless waterfalls over 25 feet long come with many options, the stream may vary dramatically in width, numerous additional waterfalls may be added to the mainstream, and rainwater harvesting may be preferred to supplement the evaporation rate of the moving water.
